Farewell

Being with this class was really a great experience for me. Aside from learning, we were having fun and making out the best in us. I got to know many things. I can say that every meeting in English class was really a treasure. But as they say, every start has an ending =(

During our class at Prof. Mabu he taught us how to set our goals. I got inspired to maintain my grades high enough just to pursue my dreams. I have a picture in my head that someday, like Mr. Mabu, I will make my dreams come true. My relationship to classmate has become tight because of the group activities that we had. The best thing about this class is that even the lesson is a bit hard, we can still have fun and still learn the lesson at the end. This is what I will miss always.

The happy memories that we all share will be treasure. Making our Prof a friend is really a privilege for me. I hope that Mr. Mabu also had fun teaching us. I super hate goodbyes but there are things that we can’t control and will end in time, but the friendship and the knowledge that had been made in the four corners of our room will remain. I hope so…

I wanted to say THANKYOU Mr. Mabu for the new experiences, the FUN, the knowledge, the techniques and the self confidence that had been developed because of your help. I hope that good things will come into you because you always share a positive vibes to the people around you. You have such a great and bright personality. Thank you for everything Sir! J

Let me end this with a quote “If you are brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello. I just hope that every step of our ways will be all blessed. Just continue to believe in our capabilities and make people believe that we are unique. Thankyou for everything guys! :**

Typhoon Maring

Before typhoon Maring spreads its power to the selected area of the Philippines, I was able to go back at our province in Pampanga. Shocked, because when I woke up, the heavy rainfall haven’t stop yet since the night of 17th of August. Luckily, our barrio was not affected too much by the typhoon. Therefore, you won’t see floods and destroyed houses.   However, we are advised by our parents to just stay inside our house.  The whole week, we were always eat then sleep.  During the typhoon, I kept on watching TV so I can be updated with the situation of other places. I got panic when I heard that Pampanga was one of the affected place. Many lost their business and the other area were extremely flooded.  I felt so pity for those people who are really affected by the typhoon. Like a lost kitten, they lost their house and some lost their loved ones. Above the rooftops, the people decided to stay. But they were smiling even if they experience that kind of tragedy. Thankfully, my family and friends are all safe J

Communication Types and Method

Last August 13, 2013, we had tackled about Communication Types and Method. It helps us to maintain a good conversation and gives us knowledge in communicating and learn the types and methods as well.

Communication is exchange and flow of information and ideas from one person to another; it involves a sender expressing an idea, information, or feeling to a receiver. It is divided into three parts: Words which needs 7 percent, Style that needs 38 percent and the most important is the Body language which has the big percentage of 55 percent.

There are two effects: the formal and informal communication. First is the formal communication. It is often used when doing business or organization talks. On the other hand, the informal communication is often used when we were chatting with our friends. It is more flexible and free.

Knowing this, I know that I will be able to make a good conversation and can use this at my work in the future J

"Recognizing Facts vs. Opinions"

Last August 5, 2013, we had a topic of "Recognizing Facts vs. Opinions". At first, I was a little bit shocked because I didn't know that even college students have a topic about it. But as the discussion goes by, i realized that the topic is more widen and more detailed than the lesson we talked about when we're in high school .

A fact is something that can be proven by a reliable authority such as: history books, statistics, proven scientific law, and observation. If you’ll ask if an observation is a fact, well, yes it is. They are called facts because they can be proven by senses. However, some facts can be change over time.

On the other hand, Opinions are beliefs or judgment of a person that are not really recognized or proven. Opinions can be valid, faulty or informed. A valid opinion is supported by fact while a faulty opinion is more like illogical; and informed opinion has a basis and some information, but still it is considered as an opinion.

There are five types of opinion: Hypothesis statement, Theory statement, Assumptive theory, Value statement and Exaggerated statement. You can also confirm if a statement is a opinion by simply looking the words such us; maybe, perhaps, apparently, best or worst, experts agree, successful, necessary and probably.

Let me end my blog with a quotation that Mr. Mabu shows us saying Every man has a right to be wrong in his opinions, but no man has the right to be wrong with facts.” For me, the meaning of this is that, every person can be wrong with his judgments but no one can change the facts that everyone accepts. I can accept the criticisms of other people about me, and I will give them the opportunity to know the real me and the facts about my real personality J

Open and Closed Conversation

On Tuesday, July 30, 2013, we had tackled about Open and Close Conversation. We discussed about different scenarios of when you can encounter Open and Closed Conversation. Our professor, Mr. Mabu taught us the ways to keep a good conversation going.

An open conversation ask a questions allowing a conversation to flow and it is most likely used when you have just met a person in a bar or any establishments that you can socialize with other people. It is like having a good conversation because there is always a topic to ask. It looks like you are free of asking with the person and the other person will give back a question also after answering her question. For example, when you have just met your new classmates, you are most likely used this type of conversation
.
On the other hand, Closed conversation ask a question with a Yes-No answer. It tends to kill the conversation and it is often used when you have just met the person or there is no interesting topic to open a long conversation. It is like having no interest with the person who ask or maybe it is not really necessary to widen the conversation.

We had an activity wherein we apply the seven ways of keeping a good conversation going. We choose a partner and construct an open conversation. I and my partner construct a conversation with the topic of Laureen Uy and Camille Co’s designs and backgrounds. We got a score of 100. J

It is important for our daily life to maintain a good conversation with others because it helps us to communicate, socialize and to make a better understanding with each other. Our activity shows us of having a good conversation with others which is like having a good relationship also. So I can say that I learned from our last topic about Open and Closed Conversation J Thanks to Sir Mabu :) Hihi.

My eldest sister is Cherry Lou Santos which is a Certified Public Accountant. My eldest brother is Carlo Santos which is a seaman and the second one is Marvin Santos who works here at Manila as a cook in a pension house.I may not look beautiful in others eyes, but I believe that I am pretty in my own way :)) I may sometimes annoying but this is who I am, and I'm comfortable to be just me. And if you want to know more better about me, then be my friend :))

During my childhood days, my cousins were my playmates and my sister always comforts me when I feel bad. I am a bit weak back then so some of my classmates used to bully me. As you can imagine, this days were my unfortunate moment. But as time goes on, I learned how to fight for myself. There is no such things in this world, right? :)) I used to join dance troupes and play Lyre when I am in Grade six.

When I entered High School, I became more confident. I got many friends and also experienced fights, but as they say, its a part of Life, right? Many things had changed, I got to know more and make myself better.  High School days taught me how to make fun and be serious when I have to be. I learned the importance of life and make my dreams.

And for the present, I am a student of Lyceum of the Philippines Univeristy, taking up Travel and Tourism Management. They always say to me that "Do what you love and never work a day in your life. So I take this course because I know this is where I am going to be happy and be complete.

Enjoy life until we can, life is too short to waste and think about nonsense things. The more struggles I take the more strength I gain. Life is difficult but it can be easy if we know our capabilities and make use of them. This is how I think and this is why I live .So don’t be afraid and live like you can do all the impossible :))
